I think this is a skipper, not sure the species, on a Showy Milkweed (Asclepias speciosa).

This is one of the many I had listed as a semifinalist in my personal competition for two entries into the Butterfly Pavillion's photographic contest. I submitted two photos yesterday and will be posting my semifinalists in the next few days.
