I'm sure you've seen one -- but probably not in this stage. All the petals are gone and what's left is essentially the peony version of a rose hip. If I remember correctly this was a "Sarah Bernhardt" double peony. For the life of me I can't find one of my pictures, so I'll give a florist some free advertising. Scroll down to the pink one. These plants are frequently featured in Chinese art.
I'm a mom of three incredible children. I also do quilting, photography, math geek stuff, computer wrangling, origami, and entomology-arachnology geek stuff.
