Fake Bumble

It's a fly, but when you're just passing without paying much attention, you'd swear it was a bumble bee. This fly is huge by the way. It was about as long and big as the tip of my thumb to the first knuckle. Posted by Picasa

A fly that size it definite confirmation of the sagacity of a friend of mine who said it is best to live in an area that has a hard freeze at least once a year. That limits the size of insects.

Hahahaha! This is in the foothills of Colorado. We have glaciers here! We also have tarantulas and tiger beetles.

Heck, I've heard horror stories about the mosquitos of Alaska.

I don't mind flies this size, they're just trying to scare the birds away. It's the smaller biting ones that piss me off.
