I always felt sad about mayflies. No feeding; and only 24 hours to find a mate and lay eggs. How unfair.
Nice shot. Did you see any in pre-moulting stage (but anyway they'll be under water)?
I guess you can say their life is very focused.
I was surprised to see it at all since we don't live very close to the water. I'll look next time we're near the local creek (about a mile away) to see what other stages I might find.
