Our garter snake, full with one last gift slug, ready for release.

I saw Photo Friday's theme is "Divine". Given my ecclectic religious and irreligious background, I started to think of snakes and butterflies. I settled on snakes since that's what I've been taking pictures of the last few days.

Snakes, boon-givers and reincarnation masters, life and death, blood and fertility, eternal, and wise.  Posted by Picasa

I love how you've framed this one with flowers, lending itself further to the divine theme.

Thanks for your comment on my site. I think all cats think they're more central than any other- lesser- beings. *G*

Hey Aravis! Thanks, I'm glad you thought so too. I had a few I liked before he started gliding among the flowers, but the blood-red made me think of the mortal flip side of the divine. (If I get to artsy fartsy just give me a good slap.) No prob on the comment, I like your blog. :) Cats only think that because they are always right.

Welcome Tom! Thanks for stopping by and the very kind comments! My husband's family are in Indianapolis, small world, eh?

Julio: Well, that's no ordinary garter snake! That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered garter snake you ever set eyes on! Look, that garter snake's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer! He'll do you up a treat, mate. I'm warning you! He's got huge, sharp-- eh-- he can leap about-- look at the bones!

(Many apologies and thanks to Monty Python)

hehehe. Now this is a really cool shot. I think he's kinda cute...and with the flowers around him, it's even better.

Very nice pic to fit your theme!
